Job Purpose:

This position aims to provide engineering, design, and management for projects of various sizes and maintenance support when needed, primarily at the Bay City Plant.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical design of Instrument/Electrical projects, conforming to applicable codes and standards.
  • Manage small projects related to plant reliability improvements.
  • Stewardship and technical review of Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Perform technical review of instrumented systems designs and modifications.
  • Work closely in a team atmosphere with various functional roles in the routine and non-routine repair of instrumentation, analyzers, and electrical equipment.
  • Perform root cause analysis of failed components.
  • Preliminary economic evaluation of cost reduction or revenue generation project opportunities.
  • Provide technical assistance to Operations and Maintenance personnel.
  • Define and utilize (or desire to learn) mathematical models, evaluate experimental or plant data, and recommend solutions to Unit or Maintenance problems using this data.
  • Provide support as required for troubleshooting Maintenance issues.
  • Support the process control group as necessary to implement new analog, digital, and supervisory process control strategies.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

 

Notable Working Conditions: Mixture of office and chemical plant as necessary. Occasionally support the Bishop site as needed.

 

Education Requirements: B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering.

 

Language Requirements: English

 

Background, Experience, Competencies and Skills:

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience. 
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation including process monitoring devices, control valves, and/or distributed control systems. 
  • Knowledge of performing functional checks
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance system and their administration.
  • SAP experience, specifically project systems (PS) module.
  • Strong desire to work in a leading edge industrial environment with a strong focus on safety, reliability and efficiency.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple simultaneous assignments. 
  • Ability to work as a self-directed individual. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to work with other groups such as Maintenance, Operations and Construction. 
  • Ability to work in a team based environment. 
  • Ability to lead a team towards a common goal. 

 

Desired:

  • 8+ years of relevant experience. 
  • Knowledge of ladder and function block logic and workings of Safety Instrumented Systems.
  • Knowledge of OQ Work Processes.
