Job purpose
Make Distributed Control System (DCS) improvements in operator displays, alarm strategies, and control strategies. Share responsibilities as DCS and enterprise historian administrator. Maintain, and install DCS/SIS software and hardware.
This role will interact significantly with Operations, Maintenance, Turnaround Coordination, Project Engineering and HSE
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Participate in the development, design, and implementation of new process control systems.
- Develop and configure DCS control strategies based on process specifications and Process Engineering criteria.
- Provide loop tuning optimization.
- Make improvements with advanced regulatory control.
- Identify efficiency, quality and economic improvement opportunities and implement.
- Support environmental, accounting with regulatory and fiscal reporting requirements.
- Data analyzation for cause mapping of production process disturbances.
- Evaluate and implement third party system integrations into the DCS.
- Lead alarm rationalization efforts.
- Support engineering modifications.
- Develop and program SIS control strategies and systems.
- Assist with SIS functional checkouts.
- Configure, test and monitor process interlock functionality.
- Utilize improvements to operator displays to maximize operational efficiencies and controllability.
- Scope out and implement advanced process control strategies.
- 24/7 on demand system/process troubleshooting and support.
Education requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
Background and experience
- 5+ years plant experience in Process Control Engineering in Operations or Plant Environment
Competencies and skills
- Well-developed problem solving and teamwork skills
- Strong computer skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of basic process control equipment and strategies
Desired:
- Experience with Delta V and Delta V SIS/Honeywell Experion PKS
- Experience with Instrumentation and Instrument Wiring.
