Job Purpose: 
The purpose of the position is to make Distributed Control System (DCS) improvements in operator displays, alarm strategies, and control strategies. Share responsibilities as DCS administrator, maintain, and install DCS/SIS software and hardware.

 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, and HSE standards.


Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
•    Participate in the development, design, and implementation of new process control systems.
•    Develop and configure DCS control strategies based on process specifications and Process Engineering criteria.
•    Provide loop tuning optimization.
•    Make improvements with advanced regulatory control.
•    Identify efficiency, quality and economic improvement opportunities and implement.
•    Support environmental, accounting with regulatory and fiscal reporting requirements.
•    Data analyzation for cause mapping of production process disturbances.
•    Evaluate and implement third party system integrations into the DCS.
•    Identify, manage and monitor improvements in alarm rationalization strategies.
•    Support engineering modifications.
•    Develop and program SIS control strategies and systems.   
•    Assist with SIS functional checkouts.
•    Configure, test and monitor process interlock functionality.
•    Utilize improvements to operator displays to maximize operational efficiencies and controllability.
•    Scope out and implement advanced process control strategies.
•    24/7 on demand system/process troubleshooting and support.
•    Scope out and implement Operator Trainer Simulators (OTS).   
•    Perform other tasks as assigned. 

 

Notable Working Conditions: Mixture of office and chemical plant as necessary.

 

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or high school diploma depending on experience

 

Background and Experience:

•    A minimum of two years of plant experience in engineering or operations with a Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering degree or 10 years of       relevant process control - instrumentation specialist experience is required.  

•    Knowledge of process control equipment and automation strategies

•    Experience with DeltaV and DeltaV SIS or Honeywell Experion PKS

•    Experience in Instrumentation and Instrument Wiring.

•    Ability to troubleshoot and analyze process disruption scenarios 
•    Well-developed problem solving and teamwork skills.
•    Strong computer skills and interpersonal skills.
