Job Purpose:

The Machinist will troubleshoot and repair various in-plant rotating equipment, perform routine PMs and lubrication on equipment, and recommend improvements for bad actors. The role also includes assisting other crafts when required and performing duties within the guidelines of OQ work processes. 

The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, and HSE standards.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing rotating equipment (positive displacement, centrifugal pumps, centrifugal & reciprocating compressors, gear boxes, turbines) and a working knowledge of precision alignment methods and tools.
  • Disassemble and reassemble the equipment for repair or transportation.
  • Build the foundation for machines as required.
  • Construct and install equipment such as shafting conveyors.
  • Review and interpret engineering specifications, schematics, and blueprints to determine work procedures.
  • Transfer equipment to the applicable site for maintenance to avoid contamination or safety hazards.
  • Custom fit parts per application.
  • Supervise onsite contractors when using the equipment.
  • Work with a range of hand tools, including measuring tools.
  • Determine which machines, techniques, and tools to use when moving equipment and completing jobs.
  • Perform other job duties assigned

Internal: Work Closely with Maintenance co-workers and Operations

External: 3rd party contractors

 

Notable Working Conditions: Position requires working 10 hours/days 4 days/week with alternating scheduled weekend duty. May have to work overtime and callouts when required.

 

Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED 

 

Language Requirements: English

 

Background and Experience:

  • Five years as a rotating equipment mechanic in a commercial and industrial environment
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial equipment and machinery.

 

Desired:

  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Lathe & Mill experience
  • Preferred Completion of an accredited millwright certification program.

 

Competencies and Skills:

  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to work well in a team environment or independently.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to communicate well with customers
  • Perform above mentioned duties with minimal guidance/ assistance
  • Availability for call outs and overtime is a must
  • Reciprocating compressors knowledge
