Job Purpose:
Provides quantifiable information on the performance of the Mechanical Reliability organization to achieve cost- effective reliability of the Plant process equipment and low-cost maintenance services to the site manufacturing groups. Supports the Maintenance Group by assisting in trouble shooting and researching the best repair practices and upgrades for non-routine equipment failures. Act as plant inspector utilizing API 510, API 570, API 653, and certified welding inspector.
The position will act in accordance with the Group’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Identify equipment with high maintenance costs or repetitive failures (bad actors), perform failure analysis and develop recommendations for corrective action.
- Manage the PM program, including the implementation and continued development of PPM to support mechanical integrity, equipment reliability, and cost effective maintenance. Evaluate PM effectiveness, and provide periodic reporting of PM compliance.
- Perform the duties of the Radiation Safety Officer, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting external audits by consultants and State Regulatory agencies, and licensing renewal.
- Utilize ASME standards (section 8) for recommendations on pressured vessels
- SAP updates. Add new functional locations and equipment to SAP as required. Update data to reflect changes to equipment.
- Member of the MOC Core team. Work with team members to maintain site compliance.
- Perform inspections, issue inspection reports, recommend corrective actions, and track progress.
- Recommend the use of inspection technology and technically evaluate contractor performance.
- Evaluate conditions of equip using available technologies and predict remaining useful life and, as needed, adjust inspection/maintenance intervals.
- Interpret past history, process and operating data, published information, inspection and failure data, perform corrosion and remaining life calculations to ensure that the equipment can be operated safely and correctly.
- Develop and promote new maintenance technologies, and interpret performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of current knowledge.
- Audit maintenance practices, perform checks on particular problem areas, and communicate concerns.
- Review, technically approve, and where appropriate, assist in the development of maintenance procedures.
- Promote a strong safety program, lead safety efforts, look for improvement opportunities, and use safe work habits to be a role model.
- Review and make recommendations for spare parts.
- Provide input and participate in the development of the maintenance and capital budget.
- Technical resource to operations, assisting in equipment performance troubleshooting, resulting in improved reliability and cost-effective operation.
- Perform and/or monitor performance of the non‑destructive testing to assure quality control for mechanical integrity.
- Review engineering WO’s with emphasis on mechanical integrity (i.e. material selections, welding specifications, engineering construction drawings, and design calculations).
- Perform vendor qualification for equipment fabrication and repair.
- Perform equipment inspections in outside shops to assure mechanical integrity.
- Be a resource for the consistent interpretation and application of the appropriate construction and repair codes or government regulations as it relates to new construction, inspection, repairs, alterations, documentation and compliance.
- Lead complex problem solving meetings with multiple disciplines and levels of supervision and be able to formulate an implementation plan.
- Participate in OQ and/’or industry groups for the development of applicable codes and standards for procurement, fabrication, and repair of equipment.
- Assure consistent application of technology, codes and standards.
- Develops methods and techniques to monitor and track Mechanical Reliability performance. Recommends indicators and methods for consistent application at the plant.
- Provides analysis input and monitors trends of defined measures. Responsible for the integrity of the data and timely reporting of the indicators.
- Responsible for the application of the company business system for Maintenance and Maintenance Engineering as it applies to work execution.
- Recommends and leads Mechanical Reliability organization through changes in processes to enhance effectiveness where new software capabilities are provided.
- Ensures that business needs are met when converting to or upgrading software.
- Ensures that systems provide adequate data and reporting for all Maintenance functions, including data warehousing.
- Recommends enhancements to systems required by business functions. Identifies needs, procures resources for, and oversees the design of related PC based applications.
- Participates in and provides leadership for plant and chemical group Maintenance and computer system teams.

Notable Working Conditions: Position requires working outdoors in extreme weather conditions, climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding. 10 hours/days 4 days/week with alternating scheduled weekend duty. May have to work overtime and callouts when required.
Education Requirements: BS degree or equivalent experience
Language Requirements: English
Background and Experience:
- Eight to ten years' experience in computer applications and administration for Mainenance in the petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial equipment and machinery.
Desired:
- Knowledge of SAP.
- Certified inspector.
- Knowledge of Rotating Equipment.
- Preventative Management, RSO, and HVAC experience.
